The picturesque beach resort town of Mui Ne is located at a four-hour train ride away from the city of Ho Chi Minh (Saigon). Once a sleepy fishing beach village, the town is now dotted with swanky beach resorts, posh cafes and restaurants, attracting a large number of seaside-loving tourists and locals each year. Mui Ne is quite unique in Vietnam, as here, sand dunes meet the sea, giving a unique aesthetic and micro-climate to this region.
Mui Ne is undoubtedly the adrenaline capital in Vietnam. Having access to both sand and sea, an amazing variety of adventure sports are available here, such as kite surfing, sailing, surfing and even quad biking on the dunes, among many others. Day tours from Mui Ne, which include a quick excursion to nearby tourist sights, are also quite popular.
For those on a honeymoon or family trip, there are a host of upmarket resorts with private beaches all along the main strip. Tourists on a budget can easily choose from several affordable hotels and hostels or even camping resorts on and around the beaches. Personal camps can also be set up at suitable spots, but those who do so should be careful of not being too close to the shoreline.
