Dwarahat is an ancient town full of beautiful temples and breathtaking sceneries, that also serves as a wonderful retreat in the Kumaon Mountains. Situated in the wondrous Almora district of Uttarakhand, Dwarahat is a place of special inheritance and of religious importance. Home to some 55 odd ancient temples built in the medieval ages by the Katyuri Kings, Dwarahat is the representative of the region’s great past and its architectural prowess.
Besides being historically significant, these temples house some of the most revered deities in Hindu Mythology and hence are frequented by devotees from all over the country and outside as well. Perched at an altitude of 2000 meters, Dwarahat provides scenic views of the mighty Himalayan peaks such Kailash Mansoravar, Dunagiri and others. Dwarahat is a place where one can rejuvenate themselves, away from the tourist rush at most of the other hill stations.
